I grew up in a very small town/ village a hour east of Calgary AB. Growing up in a small town allowed me to develop my love for animals as I was often seen around town helping bath, walk and take care of my neighbors dogs when they were away on holidays. I would also be the one always bringing home stray cats as well! During this time I was also a active member with in my community from volunteering at the library during the summer time and being in 4- H in the winter time, you would often see me helping out when ever possible. I also had my fair share of pets from my very first dog ( Dingo, who was my family’s first rescue pet) to several cats, fish, a gecko and my horse, and my last heeler, Dusty.
When I was 15 years old I got the opportunity to work at the Dog boarding facility ( Bear Dog Inn) where I worked evenings and weekends during school and full time during the summer months. Working here is where I realized that working in the animal care industry was my calling and that it is exactly what I wanted to do. After graduating high school in 2012 I decided that I should move to the big city of Edmonton to try and further my education, but shortly came to the realization that “big” city living was not meant for this small town girl and moved to Red Deer. While living in Red Deer I worked at a doggy daycare and boarding facility. During my time in Red Deer is when I fell in love with grooming and pursed my career by taking a online class, and then started up Cruzing Canine Cuts. I first started off being mobile but then groomed in the kennel for a year after that. I relocated to Cold Lake in the fall of 2015 to be closer with my boyfriend (now husband) and I decided to bring my business with me, and officially reopened in January 2016.
That’s when I met Terri! Even though we were competition it never felt that way and I would often ask them questions and get their advise about grooming. I started working as a part time kennel attendant at Cross Cuts soon after and when an opportunity developed for me to start full time there, I couldn’t pass it up. With Terri taking me on I had so many different opportunities open up for me, including testing and passing my pet stylist certification through CPPS (Canadian Professional Pet Stylists). I am excited to be a groomer at Cross Cuts and to be able to continue my education, because in this industry you can never stop learning!
I am the mother of two beautiful children (Iris & Derek) & proud fur mom to my pups, Mia and Lucy, my cat, Turtle, and my horse, Loredo. I am also an avid community volunteer, donating my time to the Canadian Animal Task Force, Lakeland Humane Society and the Pawsitive Dog Sports Association.
I am a current member of Canadian Professional Pet Stylists, Certified in Pet First Aid & CPR through Walks N Wags, and Certified in Hand Stripping through AKC.
